Directions to The Bolt Hole Chipping

Chipping is situated in the Ribble Valley on the edge of The Trough of Bowland

To find Chipping from the South leave the M6 at Junction 31a and take the first exit from the roundabout at the end of the slip road onto the B6242, (signposted for Longridge.) After about ½ a mile you will come to another two roundabouts in quite quick succession, turn right at the first of these and left at the second, onto the B6243 (still following signs for Longridge.)

 

After passing through Grimsargh and reaching the outskirts of Longridge, you will be faced with a mini roundabout in front of the Old Oak public house at which you should bear left onto an unclassified road, from here you will pass through the town going straight through 1 roundabout and 2 mini roundabouts before reaching Dino's Restaurant (formerly the Alston Arms public house), follow the main road round to the right here and pass in front of the Restaurant.

 

After leaving Longridge stay on this road for around 3 miles, until after crossing a small bridge and cresting a slight rise you come to a T junction which has a bus stop on your right, turn right here and you are on the road to Chipping . After continuing on this road for about 1 ½ miles you will enter the village of Chipping , to find the cottage when you arrive at the Sun Inn on your left, you will see The Bolt Hole opposite.

To find Chipping from the North leave the M6 at Junction 32 and follow the signs for Garstang. On reaching the first set of traffic lights on the A6 turn right onto the B5269 (Signposted Longridge and Goosnargh.)

 

Pass straight through Goosnargh and on reaching Longridge take the first exit at a roundabout onto an unclassified road and pass through through 2 mini roundabouts before reaching the Alston Arms public house, at which you will follow the main road round to the right.

 

After leaving Longridge stay on this road for around 3 miles, until after crossing a small bridge and cresting a slight rise you come to a T junction which has a bus stop on your right, turn right here and you are on the road to Chipping . After continuing on this road for about 1 ½ miles you will enter the village of Chipping , to find the cottage when you arrive at the Sun Inn on your left, you will see The Bolt Hole opposite.

To Find Chipping from the East (A59.) Leave the A59 by turning right onto the A671 at the Clitheroe junction, after ¾ of a mile you will reach a roundabout at which you should take the first exit and enter the town of Clitheroe .

 

Proceed through the town on the B6243, (following signs for Longridge.)

Having passed the sports centre and left the town you will reach the " Edisford Bridge " public house, branch right here onto an unclassified road (signposted Whitewell) and continue for ½ a mile before taking the first available left turn.

 

Continue for a further 5 ½ miles along this road to reach Chipping, turn left in front of the Sun Inn and The Bolt Hole is on the left.

To Find Chipping from the East (M65.) Leave the M65 at Jct 8 (A56/A6068), and follow signs for Clitheroe on the A6068. Pass straight through the first set of traffic lights before turning left at the second set of lights onto the A671 (signposted Clitheroe).

Drive straight through Simonstone and Read before reaching a further set of traffic signals. At the junction with the A680, go straight on (signposted Clitheroe), before turning left onto the B6246 at the next set of traffic signals (signposted Whalley).

In Whalley turn right at a mini-roundabout outside “The Dog" public house (signposted Mitton) and after only 400 yards turn left at another mini-roundabout (again signposted Mitton).

Proceed on over the river and past the Church in Mitton until meeting the B6243 at a T junction and turn right here (signposted Clitheroe).

Proceed for ¾ of a mile on this road before branching left onto an unclassified road (signposted Whitewell). After travelling for about 1 mile on this road turn left at a crossroads signposted Chipping and then continue for a further 5 miles to reach Chipping, , turn left in front of the Sun Inn and The Bolt Hole is on the left.
